Background of the Study

Patient satisfaction is a critical indicator of healthcare quality, reflecting the extent to which healthcare services meet patients' needs and expectations. In Plateau State, various healthcare facilities provide services ranging from primary care to specialized treatments. However, factors such as long waiting times, inadequate medical supplies, poor doctor-patient communication, and facility overcrowding may influence patient satisfaction levels.

Understanding patient satisfaction is essential for improving healthcare service delivery and ensuring patient-centered care. This study aims to assess patient satisfaction with healthcare services in Plateau State, identifying key factors influencing satisfaction levels and potential areas for service improvement.

Statement of the Problem

Despite efforts to improve healthcare services in Plateau State, patient complaints about service delivery inefficiencies persist. Issues such as poor infrastructure, inadequate staffing, and long consultation times may negatively impact patient satisfaction. There is a need to assess patient satisfaction levels and determine the factors affecting healthcare experiences in the state.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To assess patient satisfaction levels with healthcare services in Plateau State.

  2. To identify factors influencing patient satisfaction in healthcare facilities.

  3. To recommend strategies for improving healthcare service delivery based on patient feedback.

Research Questions

  1. What are the levels of patient satisfaction with healthcare services in Plateau State?

  2. What factors influence patient satisfaction in healthcare facilities?

  3. What strategies can be implemented to improve patient satisfaction?

Research Hypotheses

  1. High-quality healthcare services lead to increased patient satisfaction.

  2. Long waiting times and inadequate medical resources negatively impact patient satisfaction.

  3. Implementing patient-centered care strategies improves patient satisfaction levels.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

This study will focus on patients receiving treatment in public and private healthcare facilities across Plateau State. Limitations may include variability in patient expectations and differences in service quality across healthcare institutions.
